Who’s Behind Mobile Muse

Mobile Muse was founded by Carol Barton and is based in Melbourne, Australia.

Carol has 10 years experience in online with leading travel media companies Lonely Planet and BBC Worldwide. Her particular expertise is in online publishing, community engagement, social media and agile software development.

Carol drove the campaign towards a more collaborative, community-minded digital offering as part of the multi-award winning digital publishing arm of Lonely Planet.

Carol also led the design and development of Lonely Planet’s global intranet. It won global recognition and a place in Jakob Neilson’s ‘Top 10 Intranets of the Year’ after launch and led to speaking engagements as a thought leader on topics involving social media, best practice design & usability and next generation technology.

As member of the Executive Steering Committee of Lonely Planet’s global Innovation Incubator Program, she also saw the realisation and commercialisation of many innovative online initiatives.

After acquisition by BBC Worldwide, Carol further honed her skills on their Digital Publishing Management team as Product Manager for Lonely Planet’s extensive Online Community portfolio, one of the oldest and most active on the web today.

Carol is currently invested in marrying her online product development experience with a single minded focus on progressing opportunities in the exciting, fast growing mobile space.
